‘Champeta La Voladora’ translates as Flying with Champeta. Champeta is a genre of music from the Colombian Caribbean coast originating from inhabitants of African decent. Fact Mag previously described the genre as “the indestructible sound system culture of Afro-Colombia.”
Dani takes a traditional champeta bass and morphs it into a house bass line and layers it with champeta style guitars he recorded specifically or the track. The result is a bouncy Afro-Colombian house track that transports you to the Caribbean coast. One very early version of the track exists on vinyl thanks to Dani making a trip to Quantic’s house in Bogota where Will Holland offered to cut him a dub plate.
The second track is a refix of a traditional Colombian vallenato song called Los Sabanales. Giving it a heavy squelchy bass, Dani transforms this classic into a dance floor stomper.
